Bugs form outside?

I was thinking, i take my corn snake outside alot to show people and for her to get some fresh air. And what is she runs into some bugs? Like can they hurt her in any way, can any of the bugs out there hurt her? Becuase i know alot of the wild snakes have parasites and such so that has to mean there are some out there.

I'm not sure of the fauna you have in Ohio but I would hazard a guess that your snake should be ok as long as it doesn't eat anything (wild animals can transmitt parasites etc.). The only thing i could think of is mites, and generally the only ones that would bug your snake would be ones 'caught' from another animal (probably only another snake but we wont get into the whole species specific argument! ;) ).

If you are simply taking your snake out, holding it and not letting it go where it shouldn't then you should be ok. I'm assuming you're not just letting your snake roam about as he likes in the garden?? If that's the case then I'd be a bit more worried incase he escaped, or got hurt by something. HTH :)

I disagree. Your snake can pick up ticks and some mites by being allowed outside. I don't mean to scare you, but just be certain to check him over really well before taking him back inside. I personally take mine outside sometimes to take pictures, and I've not had a problem yet. On the flip side, one time I found a couple of seed ticks on one of my snakes who had only been indoors. The ticks had to come in on one of us or one of my cats.

So all in all, you just need to check them periodically for parasites whether they go outside or not.

oops, forgot about ticks! Just as well I never take my corns outside...doubt they'd appreciate cold granite pavements anyhow...;)
