I was just wondering if anyone knows a place where you can purchase Bulk amounts of Aspen. Currently I get two of the largest bags from the local pet store which covers one cleaning. Which cost around 15 dollars. I prefer aspen because much easier to spot clean then to clean entire thing when using just paper. Anyone with a good place for buying bulk?

Got any feed stores around? Expos? Swaps?
 
There is a farming place I guess you could consider that a feed store. Ill have to stope in there. There is a reptile show to but never saw aspen there. Thanks
 
I buy the really large bags at Petsmart. Normally they are $11.99 a bag, they are on sale at this time for $10.99 a bag. Considering the fact that a normal bag is 1/10th of the size for around $5 this is a super deal. They're selling it as cheap or cheaper than the big bags of pine! I got all 4 bags they had during my last visit. :)
 
What type of Aspen are you getting from Petsmart and is that a this week sale? How big are these bags?? Thanks
 
I'm not sure how long the sale runs but even at reg price it's only $11.99. They are the big bags, the same size as the large bags of pine (the biggest ones seen at petstores). I am not sure of the exact size since they are at home and I'm at work. I think they are Kaytee brand. Been using this brand for a few months and it's been good so far.
 
Ya I tryed that stuff before now that you mention the brand. It was way dusty. Im currenty using LM Animal Farms 100 percent Aspen. And if you had the two together you can feel/see a big diference. Ive also used Premier Pet which works decent. I just like the LM Animal Farms better, no dust or scent and never had any problems. But am open to new brands that are cheaper.
 
Wow I wish there was a location near me that sounds like a good deal. But Im sure a 50lb bag would cost a ton to ship!
 
Wanted to thank Starwarsdad for that link.....i called one of their offices and found a distributor in my area (OHIO).
I have been buying 5 lb bags at walmart for about $3.78 a bag. This distributor sells 50lb bales for $4.75...wooooohooooooo. That should last me awhile.

Need to edit my last....i meant 40 lb bags. If there are any Ohio folks that are close enough, the name of the place is Double N Feed in Norwalk, Oh. Stop there the next time you go to Cedar Point ;)

I finally managed to find someone selling Aspen near me, although it looks like it's produced by these people and then imported. I paid £18 for that bag! (approx $32 US) So it's not just petrol you yanks get dirt cheap.

Having said that, at £18 a bag, if I manage to do all my tanks (5 in total) with that, it'll still be cheaper than the repti-bark I currently use.
 
Ouch 32 bucks... i called American excelsior...they put me in touch with one of their clients....they are primarily a wholesale distributor and prefer not to deal with the public unless you want some serious bulk aspen. She actually told me that her client would give me a better deal than she could.
