Chance of fertile eggs in corn not bred this year

I was wondering what people's experiences have been with this situation. I have an anery female who was bred in 2005 and 2006 and produced good clutches both years. This year I decided to give her a year off, but I'm pretty sure she's going to lay soon. She has a lay box and is currently three days post shed, looking gravid and spending most of her time in said box.

If she does lay the eggs and doesn't reabsorb them and isn't just ovulating heavily, what do people think the chance is of getting any fertile eggs? She last mated in March 06. I think I may have posted a similar thread here about a month ago about her so sorry if I'm repeating myself!

Has anyone had any fertile eggs in this scenario?

Thanks,

Jessica

I know there are instances of fertile eggs being laid due to sperm retention so it is possible for you, many times slugs are laid though from her ovulating but not being fertilized in season. I hope you get fertile eggs from your girl and that she is fairing well.

There was a thread last breeding season discussing the possibility of year long sperm retention. I believe one of the limiting factors in that discussion was that the female had still been bred that same season, and the questions about retention arose because of the genotypic results in the clutch (they only would have been possible if the sperm from the previous year's male had been retained). Your results could/would add to that evidence! Keep us informed.
