choosing a cultivar....

I have a choice of several different cultivars for my first corn and i`m just wondering what comnsiderations there are for choosing a particular morph. Are all corns the same in terms of behaviour/size/vigour (health etc) ?
When choosing my snake what are the most important things? Obviously stuff like ticks etc i already know about but what else is important? Size? boldness of colours? current availablity is ( i could be wrong here but i``m learning the types fast...) Carolina, Amel,Snow, Creamsicle ... i think :)

Yes

all corns have pretty much the same temperment. As for size miamis are generally smaller than most other morphs although the size of the parents can depend on size of hatchlings. As for chossing a morph I would say get what you like best. Just remember once bitten by the herp bug you slowly become infected with a need to have more. HTH

Hi

There are countless morphs available, my personal fav is Snow but that's beside the point. As far as I know they all thrive equally. What morph you get really depends on your taste (or budget ;) ).
Let's see, there are Nomals, Aneryths, Amels, Amel variations, Charcoals, Snows, Blizzards, Ghosts, Bloodreds, Hypos, Lavenders, Creamcicles... okay brain overload, anyway there are lots. Corn cultivars are a beautiful world of choices, good luck and have fun :D .

As for what to look for and ask about a snake when the right one is in front of you, if you get it at a shop or a show make sure it has eaten at least twice (my snake had never eaten she's now almost four months old and I'm still having problems with her), look it over, make sure it's skin isn't patchy or loose and that it is active, and talk to the seller to test their abilities and knowledge. If you are getting the snake online try to talk to someone who has gotten an animal from them and see what they think.
I probably gave you info you already had but hey, I'm just trying to be helpful :)

Oh, also I (and I'm sure quite a few others) would recomend getting The Corn Snake Manual by Kathy Love, very good book.

I think I have also heard that Okeetees usually get pretty big.
Not sure though, so don't kill me if I'm wrong please

The main thing is to look for an alert, healthy snake with its tongue flicking out, the scales smooth and bright (unless in shed) that has eaten more than once.

Oh, be sure to get the breeder's business card and phone number so that you can contact him if need be. You might also want to ask for a receipt in case.

What morphs are you considering? Just curious..:)

Yeah, I heard that Okeetees (and normals) have the greatest growth potential. Also that Miami's are very picky about their food (some will only eat lizards apparantly). I'm not sure though....
