Confused!

Just a quick one. One of my corns (Ruby, a 4 year old female) has just started to behave really strange. She has tried to bite me twice in the past week, and whenever I go near her she is very jumpy. In the 4 years I've had her she has never tried to bite me and has always been fine with handling. She shed 2 weeks ago so its not that. She eats a large mouse every 7 days so shes not hungry. Her temps, hides, lighting, substrate and water have not changed, nor has she been moved. Any thoughts on why the sudden change in mood?

Not that I know of. All my snakes have their own vivs, which are all in the same room. They have always been in the smae room together and has never been an issue before. Could it be that she senses the others?

Have you changed substrates or ornaments lately, my BP has been like that also but I'm pretty sure it's because she has a cypress mulch substrate instead of the edible sand that I used to keep her in.

I can't think of what may have caused this.

But, it may be worth covering her viv with a towel or sheet for a while to give her some extra privacy. This may also make her feel more secure.

Two things come to mind is she gravid, she could be gravid without being introduced to male, none of the eggs will be fertile. Are you sure she is a she, a my male is a little like that in spring and some snakes mix up their seasons. just thoughts, susang

She has twice before had eggs without being with another snake, so I suppose it could be that again. But her behavior was not like this before.
