umm i was wondering if the snake i caught is a corn? it has dark spots and a tanish body? also on its underside it is checkered with little squares. it is aggressive. when it is angry it wiggles the tip of its tell and that makes a sound and it also goes into a s position and strikes. i hope i discribed the snake well enoughfor some one to tell me what it is. any answers would be apprecaited.
 
The checkered squares would suggest corn, but the tanish color has me concerned, many wild corns have tanish coloration but you didn't mention any red and I don't know if copperheads have checkers on thier bellies . Do you have a picture?Don't pick it up till you now that it is colubrid(harmless family of snakes) at least
Ps. both harmless and venomous snakes rattle thier tails

thanx for replying, but i do know both poisones and non-poisones snakes wiggle there tale. also if it were poisones it would have a triangular head because of the poison glands behind the head. and also u mentioned something about red stripes? thanx for ur input it is greatly apprecaited for ur concern.

I do not mean to be rude, but I've seen your posts and really think that maybe you should do a little bit of research before you go snake hunting.

I know that we probably all recognize the snake in the following picture, but I'm just using it as an example. Does it's head look any more triangular than any milksnake you've ever seen?

I'm just saying be careful, and informed, that's all. You should know exactly what could be in your area, before you go looking, and already know how to care for it if you plan to keep it...

thanx 4 your advise. i didnt mean 2 sound like a i knew every thing but i am educated some. i am studying to be a herpatologist and know a good bit about snakes but there is always something new and exciting to learn. thanx for your information shared

That is not always true and can get you into trouble in the South Western US.

J_Daniels summed it up VERY well, "You should know exactly what could be in your area, before you go looking, and already know how to care for it if you plan to keep it..."
 
It is impossible to identify the snake with the information you've given. Things that would be helpful= location it was caught, shape of head and body, are the scales smooth or rough, pattern of scales on under side of tail from vent to tail tip, color and shape of dark spots. Even with this information it will be hard to identify.
