Corn Snake Color Help

A.J.

Reptile Lover
There is a 6 month old corn snake at the local pet store, and she said it is a 'Candy Cane' corn, but it does not look like a candy cane to me.

It is a orange & reddish-pink color with no white at all, and the motley pattern.

Is that a Candy Cane? I thought they were always white with red or orange?

But I am new at this, so I could very well be wrong! Lol.

Thank you! :)

You are quite right A.J. Candy canes do have a white or nearly white ground colour with red/orange red saddles.
What you've described seeing is probably a sunglow motley if it has no white and no black on the dorsal (back) side and no belly checkers underneath.
Well done! and welcome to the site!

If it's in a petstore around here, depending on the petstore, I'm guessing that it's simply an amel motley. I was at a show today and there was a candy cane that was definitely not a candy cane and two sunglow motleys that I doubt highly were sunglows. If they were sunglows, our new girl is something special because her color put those two to shame.

I looked at pictures of both snake colors you mentioned, and it does look more like the amel motley.

It does look mostly like this, but the red is a little deeper

Thank you so much for the help! :)
