Curious thought!

Addict and proud of it!
I have a fireplace in my living room which is where my snake lives. I got to thinking after reading about substrates and I knew before reading that cedar and several others were toxic to small animals like snakes. I can't find any info on this (maybe I'm not using the right keywords) but I was wondering what wood would:D be safe to burn for my Orion? I'm sure that fumes come back into the house no matter how good your chimney works otherwise you wouldn't smell it setting on your couch.

Maybe its paranoia but I don't want to make Orion sick or worse.

Ceded and pine. Pine has a ton of resins. I don't think burning it will be a problem as the voncentrations would be low

Cool. Just wasn't sure how susceptible the little guys were to this kind of stuff.:shrugs:

I could be wrong, but I think most firewood is hardwood anyway. Burning pine in your fireplace coats the chimney with resin, which I think is a fire hazard. So normal fire wood shouldn't have pine or cedar in it.

Good to know. I just started renting this house and it is the first house I have ever had a fireplace in. Learning as I go. :D
