my snake just ate a peice of repti bark with his pinky....what is going to happen? will he regurgitate? will it hurt him?

Should be okay, however keep an eye on him. If he does regurge, don't sweat too much and just follow the 10 day before another meal rule.

Next time, don't feed him inside his enclosure.

so how long till hte coast is clear

Will an impaction be problematic within a week, or can problems arise several weeks later?

My snakes usually go within 3 days of having a meal. But it really depends on your snake. If your snake doesn't go poo in something like a week and a half, I'd start worrying.

Also there are a few tell tale signs for impaction, such as bulging belly, regurging but the belly looking full (from swelling due to infection), and general miserable behavior from the snake.

thnx for yer help...he hasnt regurged and he seemeed to not be in pain: he was all over his tank all night like usual. how am i supposed to tell if he pooed? how often should i be cleaning his cage from poo? i do it once every once or twice a week and frankly i cant tell whichs ones are the most recent =P

errr.... put him on paper towel substrate for a few weeks, impossible to miss a poo on that.
