Destruction of a tradition, no more Filibuster. (Nuclear Option)

Outcast

For over 200 years members of the minority party in the senate have been able to stall votes by filibuster. Now, the Democratically led Senate, has voted to remove that ability.

I was wondering how you all feel about this.

I personally see bad things happening. They have removed a portion of the "checks and balances" in our government. Things will no longer be actually discussed, because we all know that they don't care what the laws actually say, they just vote down party lines anyway (and I mean both parties).

I also see a big stink happening when the Republicans take control again and start using this to their advantage, that the Democrats will start to whine and cry about all of the "unjust" laws being put into place and not allowing due process, ad nauseam.

And then the "Blame Game" will start. Because it always seems to happen, with both parties.

The filibuster has only been removed for nominees. I think even Supreme Court judge nominations can still be filibustered, but bills can still be filibustered.

The Democrats ended up doing this because every single nomination they put in was being filibustered. The Republicans weren't interested in governance, only obstruction.
