Double Clutching?

PurraLovesJazz

Poofy-Headed Snake-Addict
I just got a female that laid eggs recently (dont remember when, within the last couple weeks) but the owner didnt have an incubator and didnt know I had one. So that clutch unfortunately didnt make it. She says the female might double clutch, so I currently have her at my house. The only thing I've really found about double clutching is to make sure she's well fed between, but other than that I cant find much in the books I have. Any idea how long it might take before she would lay again? And how much should I be feeding her? Any helpful tidbits are appreciated! Thanks!

If she's going to double-clutch, the second clutch will be laid around the time that the first clutch would have been due to hatch. So that's 60-70 days after the first clutch, depending on the incubation temps.

I usually feed my double-clutching females once a week, and I double up on food items if they'll take them. If I have a refusal, I try offering smaller food items before I give up. They'll still fast for a while before laying, but the more food I can get into them (of any size) the better.

Thanks for the info!

I had a female with double clutch too ( without mating male for 2nd time ) .
prelayshed on 03/22
eggs 04/02
shed after eggs 04/12
prelayshed 05/20
eggs 05/30
and now in blue again .

Between both clutches she was fed once every 5-7 days to recover and that's maybe why she got into double clutching .
After this clutch I didn't feed her so much to avoid 3rd one ( which can happen from what I know from a friend ) .
So second clutch was layed before first was hatching .
