Dropped!

My little Aki was especially squirmy today. She's about 2 months old and most of the time she's been very calm about being held, just curious and wandering around my hand. Today she was just anxious, probably woke her up too early or something.

She dropped off my hand, fell about 2 feet and landed draped over a narrow edge (sterlite lid that was propped up between a couple of jugs of drinking water). I'm mostly concerned about how she landed across the narrow edge, essentially taking the impact across just a very small portion of her body instead of spreading the impact by landing flat.

When she moved through my fingers she felt fine and seemed to move just fine and I put her up right away so she wouldn't be any more stressed after that.

Anything I should keep an eye out for as far as injury?

She's my first snake, so of course right now I'm feeling AWFUL that I dropped her. I'm sure she's fine, but I'm paranoid.

I have done that many times over the years. I even had one (I wasn't holding) that was a tiny tiny thing (half the size of a normal hatchling) land straight on tile. I am not sure exactly what signs to look for but I am sure you are right that she will be fine. But don't feel bad, I know that most of us have done it at least once. Non of mine have had problems afterwards.

I figure they have drops in the wild even, but that doesn't mean they don't get hurt by it, I guess.

She went through her normal routine after being held. When I lower her into her tank, if I aim her toward her water dish, she always hangs down from my hand takes a drink of water before completely leaving my hand. Then she goes and curls up behind her branch.

She does this just about every time now.

That is funny. I do the samething, holding them by the water dish and mine drink everytime too. I think that it is so cute and it is nice that they are so relaxed that they can go about normal routine with out worring about you.

Yeah, I guess I figure if she went through her normal routine then, she must not have been terribly stressed by the fall. Looking forward to seeing if she comes out to wander the tank at her usual time (around 7pm). Then I'll really feel a lot better.

2 feet isn't nearly as bad as it could be. Not something you want to have happen, of course, but she'll probably be fine. I have a couple that initially preferred to drop from the ledge around the top of the tank rather than bothering to climb down once they decided they were done up there, so I figure short falls must not seem all that alarming to them.
