Easy heat question

Green Chile

Hey everyone,

I am very new to snakes. In fact, my friend and I each bought ourselves a cornsnake. I was wondering if there is a simple solution to the favored heat (82-87 degrees). I'm looking for something inexpensive... like a small heating pad or something. Is there anything suitable at the stores, maybe Walmart? or should I check out the local petsore or on the net. Thanks alot.

Well, it depends on a few things.

Where you live, your room (or whereever you have your snakes) temperature, what you're housing your snake in, and what substrate you're using.

Lights work, as to UTH's. Lights are much cheaper $6, compared to $25 for UTH's.

If you have a screen lid lights are going to really reduce humidity, but there are ways around that.

What are the current temps in your cage?

i like to use lamps. they're easier to control by raising them higher or lower over the viv. if it gets too dry just move the water bowl closer to the warmer side.
