Well if your snake cage is already humid then no, but of not try it out. When I first had my corns I used reptile bark, and it was ok, but honesty I would use adorn for the most part and use the Eco earth in humid hides, and maybe the summer if you still have some left.

I use EcoEarth for all my snakes, all the time. I have a snow, and it's much easier to see her on the coconut fiber than the aspen. It's also cheaper for me, and easier to store cause it takes up less space.
Just make sure that you don't soak it so much, otherwise it will be too humid in the tank. I put in about 1/2-3/4 the amount of water suggested and then break it down with my hands. This way you get a drier product. Or, you can soak it, then let it dry out for a day or two before switching out the substrate - not as easy in my opinion.
The only time I don't use it, is for a hatchling. The aspen is easier to monitor the feces for the first couple months.

I have a planted vivarium and it has 3.5 inches of eco earth on the bottom. I was going to get all fancy and mix it with other soil supplements and drainage elements for the plants, but my local reptile store experts recommended just Eco earth and I went with what they said. My snake really loves it. She digs around and has fun with it. The plants are doing very well, too. I also have a frog tank that uses eco earth (very heavily planted, that one) and after almost two years it is still a very healthy environment. I think Eco earth is great stuff.
Oh-- one good trick for keeping a nice humidity level is to put a layer of pea gravel in the bottom below a thick layer of Eco earth. Then poke a hole in the EE and pour enough water in it to saturate the gravel and kind of act as a water table for the tank. The EE on the bottom stays nice and moist and provides just enough humidity but the EE on top stays nice and dry and doesn't dampen your snake. While you're at it, add some low-light tropical plants and a fluorescent light on top and then you've got a jen-you-wine vivarium
