Furnishings… All you really need is a good size water dish for your snake and a hiding place. I use a Tupperware container as a water dish ($.99 store) and a piece of driftwood for a climbing/hiding for my snakes (Driftwood you can find at you local pet store). That’s about it, pretty simple. I have seen other people that have some better looking hiding places for their snake, such as a skull that you can find in the fish department of a pet store and I have also seen the wallpaper background of deserts/forests that people use for the backs of their tank. Some people use plastic/silk plants. I think that you should go to your local pet stores and see what they have to offer you. Look for things that you can work with to make your perfect setup, then go from there.

Yes, I am using aspen in all of my set ups.
I feed my snakes in separate containers.
I also have one more 10 gallon tank, four 28 quart rubbermade boxes and two six quart rubbermade boxes.

EDIT: Note, the tank configurations have been switched around a little, any tank with a half-log has had the log placed under the light and water bowls have been moved to light-opposite side of tanks

plants for viv

if you want to get some nice fake plants for your viv and you want to save some $$, don't bother with a pet store (the premade ones tend to be way expensive)- go to a major craft store chain like michaels or beverly's - they have fake plants for a lot cheaper than buying it from a petstore. (I guess it takes a little more time, but it's worth it, especially if you are a 'do it yourselfer')
just make sure they can support the weight of your snake, that they don't have any wires or sharp plastic poking out and that they are easy to clean...
I made two plant/ hides in about an hour with some fake plants, a ceramic dish (like those that go under pots) and some rocks- my snakes love it

I just have a hide, and a water bowl. I tried the really elaborate displays, and while it did look pretty..it wasn't functional at all. I spent more time putting the plants and sticks back than it was worth. It also doubled my clean-up time, something I don't particularly enjoy as it is.

So if you have a couple of snakes, it might be worth it to decorate more. But I just have too many enclosures to spend that sort of time with.

Just be creative. =)
