Is there a way to encourage my male and female mice to breed?they haven't yet(as far as i can tell) and i don't know how to get them going.

Just give them time. Starting a new colony always takes time, often as long as 2 months before you see any litters.

Make sure they have a good lab block diet, perhaps increase the protein and fat content.

Were they full adults when you got them or younger? Might be used up breeders if they are full adults, or too young when you got them if they were smaller. It's best to start with them younger.

Mine mated the first nite i got them. The male was a horny lil bugger. lol But The second female took a few days before shge would mate. Since August I have had like 7 or 8 litters.

Unless you watch your mice ALOT (especially at night) then you may just have missed them mating. I've had mine for months and only seen them mating once. But they definitely have been as I consistently get litters! lol

Light some candles, run them a hot bath, and put on the Barry White?? :grin01:

Sorry, I couldn't resist. Some colonies just take awhile to get used to eachother. Mice are fertile little creatures, so I'm sure they'll get there when the time is right.

:nyah: to you too! i don't know what to think about these little monsters! last two days they keep dumping the food dish and trying to hide the food!ARRRG! WELL , i remember it takes 21(i think) for them to give birth so i'll add a second female and wait a month!

HAHAHA They're stocking up for winter. That might be considered a good sign as far as breeding goes - especially if you see nest building.
