Factors affecting the colouration of a snake

In some other reptiles, for example leopard geckos, their mineral and calcium intake etc affect their colours. If there is not enough of something-or-other then their colours become duller.

I was just wondering if this is true for corns? can you intensify your corn's colours by supplementing its diet
 
I'm not sure if anyone's seen anything conclusive with this, but Serpwidgets was working on a project with beta carotene at one point. Someone else was talking about picking it up as part of their graduate thesis project.
