Fake plants?

Hey guys im interested in your guys snakes opinions on plants in the cage.

Below is a picture of my setup and there are two hides and a large water bowl and a couple of wood pieces for climbing on. No plants yet because i was wondering how much corns really like them.

So, i was reading some other threads and i see a lot of you guys using a lot of green and a lot of plants. Im just wondering if i should invest in some craft store plants and place them in there to try and get the snake to feel more comfortable moving around(as i read that it may help them feel unoticed).

So again, what are your guys thoughts?

Hey, My corn loves his plant that I have for him, I got it at the pet store for $10, make sure the plants you get dont have any chemicals on them that can harm the snake. Its really a matter of preference for the snake, some will like plants and some wont.

I got some silk and plastic plants for my tanks. Some are hung up all nice with suction cups. Some are just thrown in like vines on a forest floor. My snakes love to hide among them.

The plants at the pet stores are way overpriced. best to try online. if looking for branches try snakestate.com

well i have a veiled chameleon and i just bought house plants from michaels and theyre super sensitive to chemicals and hes ok so i figured a hardy corn snake will be fine too. lol but im gonna get quite a few and see how he likes them. ill go get some sometime next week or this weekend and ill post new pics of the setup

I tried real plants in with mine for a few months, but they got flattened and regularly knocked over, spilling the compost everywhere and letting the Corns track mud all through their vivs. Also live plants need daylight, so you'll need more than one in order to swap them out of the tank every week so they survive. If you just put a plant in a Corn tank and leave it, it'll eventually die anyway. They also can't cope with being pooped on.

I stick to plastic plants and foliage. Mine are a mix of reptile store and cheaper craft store ones and they look great. Be careful with the craft store ones as they tend to have wire in them somewhere so you need to keep checking that sharp ends aren't sticking out. Bit fiddly to clean when pooped on but they generally survive unscathed after disinfecting and a good scrub.
