Fake rock polystyrene alternative?

What's a good alternative to polystyrene to use when making fake rocks and viv decorations? Polystyrene is just nasty stuff when it's exposed to heat, so I would prefer an alternative.

I've considered just using popsicle sticks or somethings similar, but they have no bulk.

Any ideas will be appreciated.
 
You could use great stuff...spray it onto wax paper and then you can cut to your liking, or I use aluminum foil balled up for bases and such for clay. Aluminum foil is great cause you can cook it witht he clay over it and it is nice and cheap and light!
Sounds like a cool project!
You should make some with plants coming out of them....that would be nice!
