Feeding Questions

So my roommate and I just got our first snake about 2.5 weeks ago. shes 4ft long and we think 10 years old. 1.5 weeks ago we drove 3 days to get to school and kept her (Aisha) as comfortable as possible and left her alone for a week when we got to school knowing she would be wicked stressed out. Before we left for school, she seemed to be gettine more antzy so we thought she was starting to get hungry, now its been about 3 weeks since she's been fed, and her previous owner said she usually eats a medium rat every 10 days. However she has not eaten the small rat we got..The rat (now named and with its own house) is living under my bed and we arent sure if we should be conserned with our snakes lack of appetite...? we're guessing she's just still stressed and we've been trying to leave her alone but we were wondering if there was anything we should try to make life easier on her?

thanks! any help is greatly appreciated

Marita

For a snake that age to go without eating for a few weeks is not a big deal.

You need to ask the previous owner if the snake was eating live or frozen/thawed rats. It is much safer to feed frozen/thawed. Live rats can bite and cause a lot of damage.
