Feeding the Boas

whatisntseen

What's This?
I made a video earlier today from footage from last weeks feedings. Really, I wasnt planning on doing any editting, but it took each of them 15 minutes to down the mice so that was inevitable. It's nothing amazing, but I thought you guys might like to see anyways.

The 'corbins' at the end are what I name all their food items. Perhaps I should stop playing with the food?

You might want to put a warning up that you feed live in that video. Some people may be upset. Personally, I prefer frozen because there is less risk involved and it's just so much more convenient. I always feel bad for the mice when feeding live as well.

Jenne, I'm aware of the f/t vs live argument and the only reason i feed live really is because its more reasonable for my wallet since i dont have a big collection and no one sells f/t locally in sizes i need. I can see what youre saying about the warning though, and youre right, but then most people assume youre feeding live when you make a video.

Andrew,
She's an amazing boa. I'm so glad I grabbed her when I got the chance.

I want to get one someday. I still have a lot of research to do about the first though. Any recommended sites or books?
Are they all pretty tame? A BCI is the biggest snake I would consider, but i would quickly strike it off my list if I found out they are aggressive snakes...
But they sure are gorgeous.

Boas arent too difficult to care for. The real trick is keeping their humidity up. I accomplish this with humid hides and covering tank lids with plastic. As long as you have a good temperature gradient and hit the right temps you'll be good. And their temperament is mostly docile. You definitely learn to read snakes a bit when you work with them, especially the young ones.
I cant really think of any good sites for boa care off the top of my head, but there are plenty of people on here who are experts.

Gorgeous boas.

I'm no fan of live feeding. I would have a hard time feeding my snake something that makes such a heart breaking sound.
