Feeding Time DANCE?? lol

LOCA for corn snakes !!!
Ok so I have had nothing but normal experiences with my snake for the last week and a half I have had him. I got him Friday of Memorial Day Weekend, so 9 days ago. I fed him that Monday night very easily and successfully I may ad. I really want to get him on a Sunday feeding day because that is the day that I am always home to do the feeding/cage cleaning. So, I treid to feed him today (Sunday) which is 6 days after his last meal. I figured how big of a difference could one day make? Well, he didnt eat!

So, I tried dangling the mouse for a while just as I had last week..that didnt work. So after about 15-20 minutes of unsuccessfully trying that I decided to close the feeding tank and just lay the mouse in there. MoJo was acting VERY strange! He was seriously checking him out , staring him down but NO FEEDING! He was doing this weird jerky movement all around it. What is that?

Anyway after that didnt work I closed up the lid and left the room (dark) to see if I may have been the problem. I waited about 45 minutes and then came back in and MoJo had half of his body curled around it but never ate him.

Oh BTW his head does look like it starting to turn blue as of yesterday.

So I have a few questions...

1) Did I fed him too early ( would 1 day make a difference) or is it because he is going into a shed?
2) What in the world was that jerking movement he was doing around the mouse?
3) How long should I wait to retry feeding?
4) How long does it take them to shed completely from start to finish?
5) Will they eat at all while shedding? Should I even try?

1. I would guess that it's because he's going into blue. Most of mine won't eat then, but some that are pigs and will eat anything and everything.

2. no idea

3. When possible I skip feeding when mine are blue. I've had a couple of shed related regurges and prefer to skip that whole mess. If they're blue at feeding time they wait until their next scheduled feeding. Usually this means 14 days between feedings since I feed every Sunday. A few go longer since they frequently refuse if its just before/just after a shed. As long as they're gaining weight I don't worry about it too much.

4. around a week, maybe a bit longer. Again depends on the individual. Most of mine shed about 3-4 days after clearing.

5. Some do, some don't. If I know they're in a shed cycle I skip that feeding (see above). If I've already thawed their mouse then I offer it and see if they're interested or not.

Good luck :)

Thanks Shannon!
I guess I should skip this week all together then? I feel bad... like Im starving my snake.

If his head just started to turn blueish...a week from then?
