feeding vs handling

I have a 2 month old approx. 14' long creamsicle (Charlie) my first snake that i got last week. I fed him for the first time yesterday (man what a rush!!!!). Anyway I've read both on this forum and in Kathy's book how you can feed 2 pinkies per week that way they grow quickly. Should i feed 2 pinkies at once or 1 pinkie every 3-4 days.
If one every 3-4 days is correct the second part of my question is when would i be able to handle him since i must allow for 2 days for digestion
The next question i have is somewhat related to the 2nd. How much handling per day is ok especially since he is so young. to date I have left him in his cage so that he may adjust, only disturbing him to change the water, add stuff to the cage and for feeding
Thanks for all the help

If you wish to feed two pinkies then do it at the same time. If he only takes one then don't push the second. It might be a good idea to only feed one for the first couple of feedings to let your snake settle in. Offer food every 5 to 7 days. As an ideal - don't handle your snake for 48 hours after feeding.
As you only just got your snake I would avoid too much handling in the first couple of weeks to let him acclimatise. After that you can slowly increase handling time. There is no "right " figure for how much time is correct.

i usually dont handle my snake for more than an hour as any longer than this he gets aggitated. as ure snake gets used to bieng handled though u can increase the time he is out for.

1 more question

thanks for the tip skye. I have 1 more ques. I hope you can help me out with. How often do snakes this young poop, I have had Charlie for a week now and I havent seen any droppings. Do corns go in their hide? And will they always use the same spot.
Oops guess thats more than 1 ques. LOL

It depends on the snake, some do 1 big one anything from 3 days after eating to 10 days after, while others will go in 2-3 small amounts over the same 7-10 day preiod. My yearlings both go about 4 days after feeding while my aduld goes 3 times usually over a 7-8 day period.

And they never seem to go in the same spot.

Darn thats gonna make it a little more challenging especially since i've never seen snake poop b4. The store i got charlie from tried describing it to me and form his description I doubt if i will be able to find it the cage. Just to give you guys an idea I've attached a pic of charlies cage. At the back where the flowers are thats his hide I used a mailing tube cut in half

gatorlink you seem to have a very nice setup for your new snake. i have also sjut purchaced a new corn snake (also a albino creamcicle corn) Today is 7 weeks that i have had him. mine is a little jumpy when i handle him, but i only handel him for about 15-30 minutes at a time per day, dont want him to undergo to much stress. i have the same problem i have put aspen shavings in my tank and this makes it almost impossiblt to find droppings. i dont think it is that big of a deal if you still keep the tank clean and tidy considering it is jsut a pinkey (no real body to them) well good luck with charley :twoguns:

thanks

thanks for all the tips and complements on the tank. I guess i'm like a 1st time daddy wanting only the best and taking all the precautions. I spent the entire day saturday driving around to pet stores, walmart, office max and dollar stores searching for stuff to put in the tank. Here's a tip to anyone decorating their tanks go to the dollar stores, no need to spend 5 bucks on plastic flowers at petsmart the same things can be had for a dollar just look around

I agree but make sure they are plastic or silk plants and that you wash them and leve to dry naturally (usually overnight is enough). I got 4 of my large one's fro £1 hop here in the uk which would have cost me£6.95 each otherwise.
