Hi I just weighed my con today and she weighed in at 43 grams. I have been following the Munson plan. She is currently on double pinks at the moment. My question is can I keep her on double pinks until I finish my bag of one hundred I have? or should I just go to fuzzies ? I don't know what to do.

100!!! You might want to just get another snake!!

43 grams is fuzzie time, they need the extra calcium or your snake may end up malnourished. Save the pinks and get another snake. The first hatchings of the year are about to start.

Agreed you should move your snake up.. Are there any reptile shops in your area that will take in your extra pinkies and trade for fuzzies.. The shops out here will do that sometime... Or you could get another snake ;)

How many of the 100 pinks do you have left? Staying on double or triple pinkies for a little while shouldn't be a problem.

Once she's established on fuzzies you could always add a single pinky to each feed and slowly finish the bag off like that.

I'd start on the smallest fuzzies you can find. Sometimes they can be put off by the fur, so if it's easier to swallow they're less likely to turn their nose up at it.

I have about 50 left. I think I'm just gonna finish out the bag and then do the switch. Thanks again everyone!

That will take you about 25 more feedings... I really wouldn't suggest doing that considering the snake will need more nutrition. If you were following the Munson plan you wouldn't still be on pinkies. I would switch over to fuzzies soon. For future reference...a baby corn that is sold to you at like 4-5months...will probably only use up 30 pinkies.(depending)

When I bought my corn I had bought about 30 pinkies. Since I have 13 left and she is feeding double...I'm going to go find peach fuzzies.

Buy more snakes OR you could find the right way to ship frozen mice...and send them to me for a decent price of just shipping :p

hmmm.. you guys are confusing. lol The reason why I am on pinkies still is because I didn't want to waste the pinkies I bought. I would like to start and try her on fuzzies. Would it be bad if I tried live? I have some one here in my area that has fuzzies but, they are live. What would be a humane way to kill a fuzzy and then freeze it? I know about co2 that seems to be quite a bit of work. I'm soaking in all this info you guys are great and have been really helpful! Thanks again.

I agree with Bitsy.
Also, you will end up using all those pinks over the life of your snake.

When your snake is getting too big for fuzzies, you can feed it a fuzzy and a pink. If your snake ever regurges, you will need pinks. If you ever get another baby, you will need pinks. If you run out of fuzzies, you can give your snake some pinks.

Humane ways to kill mice? I'd do a search on this forum. There are lots of threads I have read on it. Off the top of my head I know that people grab them by the tail and bang them, use cervical dislocation (grab the body in one hand, head in the other- then pull quickly), and stick them in a bag with baking soda and vinegar (this makes CO2, and if you are only offing 1 mouse it isn't too hard.).

I found a guy locally who gasses and freezes mice. Check your local classifieds and ask other snake people. You might be able to find someone. Plus, he saves me tons of money- only $0.88 for an adult mouse, already frozen and bagged!
