For various reasons I am giving away some goldfish that I had in a 45-50 gallon long. This tank has more footprint space than a 55 gallon, though it is a few inches shorter. I have a couple of questions.

1) I read that a tank can be too roomy. I may end up with a young corn, so I would not want to just dump it in a tank that's so huge. Would it be a good idea to divide this tank into two sections, and if so could I keep two adult corns permanently housed in there? I saw another topic about dividing tanks, but mine is not really HOW to divide so much as whether it's an okay idea.

2) The tank is kind of an odd size, I've realized. Where in the world do I find a screen top for it? Can I make one that is sturdy enough that a curious corn could not escape? Any links would be useful.

Thanks.

I also have an adult corn (the mom to all my eggs, so she gets the best house) in a 55 gallon. What we ended up doing for the top was to use the regular fish top with the lights. For the area that was open, (along the back)
we used regular screen material, cut to size and adhered it with silicone that dried overnight with no snake, of course. I was doubtful about this at first, but have never had a problem. Zelda is a big girl who can, and does reach up to the top of the tank.
I don't know if you happen to already have a fish tank lid or not. The 125 gallon that I have came with no type of lid, so I am in the same boat as you with that one. I'm figuring I'm going to have to build something, since I searched quite a bit a while back and never found a screened lid that big.
I wish I could be more help. This is a good question. I hope other people have other ideas, though.

I found a place with the right sized lids today. But at the moment I'm more concerned with whether two corns could be happy in this divided tank. :) Thanks though.

what is the floor base measurement of the tank?

it's recommended 4ft per adult corn(length+width= 4ft)
recommended minimum tank size is 20g long which is 30" x 12", so i guess anything 42+ inches length+width would be fine.
