It took me a while to figure this out, but I finally got a pic up here of my snake, Ren! YAY! It's not the best pic, but you can click on it to enlarge it! Notice I also have his pic posted up there with my name now! Let me know what you think of Ren! I'll try to get some better pictures soon!

And here's one more...I don't think you can see Ren's spots and coloration very well in these photos. If anyone has any input on how to get a really good, detailed photo, please let me know!

Thanks!

Jicin,
I definitely will get some more pics up...I want to get some better pics that show off the gorgeous markings s/he has, a close up of his/her head and at least one pic of his/her solid white underbelly!

Beautiful snake, Bekah!

I was wondering, what color are her eyes? They look black in the pics. If they are, then Ren is not a "red" motley. She would be a normal motley. In the pics, her color also looks like a normal motley to me. I wasn't sure if it was just the pics, or her actual color.

Nice snake. Congratulations on figuring out the picture posting.

Yes, I agree with Terri, looks like a normal motley from the pictures because the eyes "appear" to be brown.

Rens eyes are dark. When I bought him/her I was told s/he was a Red Motley. I don't know if that's due to the pattern? I tried my best to describe Ren in previous posts, and I don't feel that the pics do him/her justice. I don't think you can make the spots out very well. But, if Ren is a regular motley I must ask...what's the difference between a red motley and a normal motley?

P.S.

Regardless of what Ren is I love him/her and I thank you ALL for your compliments...I will try to get some better pics up here...maybe later on tonight!

To put it simply, a "red" motley is an amelanistic motley. That means it is missing the black pigment, but still has the red and yellow pigments. A normal motley has the black, red, and yellow pigments. If Ren has dark eyes, then she is most definitely not a "red" motley. As you said before, regardless or what "morph" she is, she is beautiful and you love her. That's ALL that matters.

Thanks 4 Speedy reply...more questions for ya'.

Then this guy had me TOTALLY misinformed which would be why I was so confused!!! When he first showed me the snake he said it was a red "amel" motley. Then he looked at the eyes and said "Nope...it's a just regular red motley." That was fine and I soon came to learn that amelanistic motleys (for the most part) had pink eyes, but weren't true albinos.

BUT...I also have to ask...Ren has no black pigment on his/her body ANYWHERE and the underbelly is totally SOLID white with a pearlescent look to it (it looks like it has a pastel rainbow sheen under certain light). The only thing dark is the eyes? Does this qualify Ren as anything in particular or does it still make him/her a regular motley.

ALSO...just out of curiosity...what would the going price for a snake such as mine be?

ANOTHER P.S.

How do you get such good close ups??? I am using a digital camera and I wish my pics would come out a little more detailed. Do you use a flash or natural light. Sorry for all the questions!

Yes it looks like a normal motley corn to me. Keep in mind that many motley corns have a phantom hypo thing going on (as I've heard it called). congrats on getting the pic up. Oh and nice snake I love motleys.

Thanks Jason! I put a few more up tonight as well. Now that I've mastered this I may be unstopable...Mwah ha ha! LOL!

Jason is correct...
A lot of motleys have little or no black on them. It does sound as if the guy you got Ren from totally misinformed you. I have never heard a normal motley called a red motley.

As for the going price, it would depend on age, sex, etc. You are sure Ren is a female? And how old is she? Has she ever produced viable eggs?

As for taking good close-ups...it's all in the camera and in taking enough pictures until I get some decent ones. Believe me...I have to take quite a few to get the ones I post here. The camera needs to have good resolution and a good macro setting to allow for good close-ups. I do have to add artificial light when I take pictures inside.

LOL...I'm not entirely sure Ren is female, but I've started calling it "she" and "her" at home (but still call it bud or buddy - lol!) At first I was sure Ren was a male based on his/her taper...now I'm not too sure...could go either way. Based on that scale counting method...I could have a female (I was told the farther the number is from 156 the more likely that it's female...or somethign like that...don't recall exactly), but Ren's not far from that mark. Ren is a "female" by 10 scales or so.

I would like to say that Ren is around 18 months or so based on the fact that s/he sheds every month and I was told that shedding becomes less frquent once they've reached maturity...what age that is I have no clue. Ren is approximately 3 and a half feet long and we found s/he grew another 2 inches after this last shed.

No eggs whatsoever. Then again...I don't know what my little shemale is! LOL! I don't want to try to probe myself and I've heard of this "popping" thing which I also won't do (I'm frightened to do any harm). So eventually we will get the rep vet near us to sex Ren.

Bekah...
Can you take a picture of Ren's tail from the "belly" view for me? I might be able to give you a better idea about its gender.

Also, how often do you feed Ren? None of my 18 month olds shed every month. How often do you feed her, and what size prey? I think we may have briefly talked about this before, but I can't remember for certain...

By the way, are you measuring her or her shed skin?

And an adult male normal motley would go for $100-$150, I think. I am trying to sell one right now for $125.00. A female will go for more...especially if she is proven. I hope the guy didn't rip you off...

Since your snake may not be an adult (didn't the seller know the age?), it would probably sell for a little less.
