Sing the praise to Dave almighty - the guy who owns the shop who owns the corns who in turn bred and gave me.....
MY NEWEST SNAKE!
Yes, I looked at the butters, like I said I would, but they just weren't my thing. So I looked at some Miamis (which were AWESOME....should have gotten more than one snake while I was there:) and then the guy told me that there was another bunch he had gotten a while back, that he had forgotten to tell me about. I was all excited and asked to see them, but I felt disappointed when I saw that they were normals. So I kept on looking, saw a couple snows, couple amels (of course) the butters again, a creamsicle, and an anery...I was JUST about to get one of the miamis when I glanced over at the little heap of normals and GOODNESS GRACIOUS, there sat a bright little speck on top of all that dark! All the siblings of that little male looked like pure black snakes next to him...so I completely forgot the miamis, hiked out that little one, and when he hissed at me, that was it. He was MINE. Somehow, the way he was all puffed up and mad was cute to me, and so the name Diablo was born.
Then, about two minutes after I got him home, I put him in his tank. I observed him a few hours later (I just couldn't keep my eyes off him) and there he was, calmy sitting OUTSIDE his hide box, staring at me. So I lifted up the lid little by little....he didn't move. I touched him and HE CLIMBED WILLINGLY AND TRUSTINGLY onto my hand. He was the exact opposite of the little demon I had bought earlier today.
Anyways, sorry for how outrageously long this post is, I just felt the need to share:) I'll try to get some pics as soon as I can...

i must say i enjoyed reading that very much!!!!! and i can not wait until there are some pics of the little beauty!!!1

He is a normal.....

...just a very bright one. And a very fat one, too. I just fed him yesterday, and I feared for my life the way he lunged at that little pinky. I need to know, though - since the Corn Manual said that you can feed pinkies twice a week (and I have no doubt that he is capable - the blob in his stomach is already nearly gone!) I was wondering on what day I should feed him next. Since I fed him on Sunday, should I feed him on Wednesday? Thursday? Any advice is appreciated, since this is my first hatchling and I'm a bit unused to caring for something so TINY. (When I brought him home dad thought I'd bought a garter snake or something, not a corn:)

I know, I just posted, but...

You know, I just went surfing this website for normals, and the variations really stunned me. It should be fun to watch him grow up into either his mother (who was a normal but very miami-ish) or something like my other snake, Angel, who is very red all the way around. His father was an amel with spectacular colors, so maybe he'll get a round of those and get the stunning peachy orange of his father:)i

Awwwwwwww...

I loved reading your story. I think you are in good company here! Seems like most of us get pretty sentimental about our snakes. I have a normal female (sold to me as an Okeetee but I don't think so...) who sounds so much like yours. She was the brightest one in the bunch, the rest being very dark and plain. She has been calm and loves to be out from day one! Just an extrordinary snake. I just love her.

Glad to hear about Diablo!
