Today my snake was active for the first time in a while, which was a nice change. I hadn't noticed anything unusual but then my friend blew into the cage(no idea why) and it scared my snake back into his hide. We noticed he had started to shed his skin. Since then he has stayed in his hide, and when I check on him he has made no progress with the shed. Is this alright?

Yes it is alright.

Make sure his water is full and give him plenty of privacy. He knows what to do. Just check him tomorrow and make sure he completely shed.

... and tell your friend to .... Hmmmph... was heading to the gutter real quick...

Anyway... ask your friend to refrain from doing that again.
