I know this is a Snake forum.. But I also know there is a lot of Dog people here in the area..

Well, Polk County conviscated 261 dogs last week from a "Retriever rescue" And then recently another 62 here the last cpl days.
I am probably going to the shelter tonight to volunteer to help Bath/walk the new batch of 62 dogs. This shelter is so overwhelmed..and need help from Rescue grps to pull dogs. I think 122 right now are rdy for Rescues. Puppies, Adults.. Small.. Large.. Pick one! If your in the area.. Or maybe even Not, and know a rescue that would pull some from here and transport.. that may be Ok too. But I am Not for sure!

I know there are people in the state of Florida here on this board.. so I figured I would ask.

One of the rescues I volunteer for is helping find places for these dogs.. and could pull them under this rescue if you can help!


or, if you are looking to adopt a dog.. Please.. go to this shelter and adopt one. They are in need of getting these dogs out. Otherwise they will have to be Put to sleep.

So, any help at all would be good!
 
I saw this on the news the other day, how long before the dogs will be ready for release?
 
some are ready now. The Rescue i am fostering for.. is going to take pics of 122 now.. that are ready. there are 122 dogs that are available to rescues and only 19 of those to the public for adoption...
 
That's a lot of dogs! I currently foster and we don't have room for all the ones about to be put to sleep in our local pounds. We already had a litter of 6 puppies put to sleep before we could find a place for them. It's so tragic! I hope you can find enough places for all these dogs. Hopefully with the publicity there will be people to step forward to take some. Lets see if the piece of crap Humane Society of the United States helps out here! Doubt it!
 
Well, I am bringing in a Small Boston Terrier mix to Foster.

But most of the dogs Avail right now.. are Large Pit Mixs.. Hound Mixes.. a cpl Small terrier mixes.. and some other medium size Mixed breeds. Not all are avail for Rescues yet. But I went and just was.. appaled by there conditions. I feel awful! But 2 Pit Females, a Hound mix male..and a Momma Pit.. and her 10 2week old pups were pulled tonight! Momma and one of the female pits would have been PTS tomorrow if not taken .. So it worked out. We are still trying to find people to take the other bigger dogs..and Medium sized dogs. Once court is done on the others.. they will be avail for pulling... Bah! What a Night!
 
oo the 19 that were up for adoption have all been adopted tonight! More going out tomorrow! Polk County Animal Control has dogs for adoption for....$5!!!!! till Mon the 7th!!

Sweet little pit! looks a little beat up but I think it will be a pretty dog once all the garbage on the muzzle heals up.
 
Yea, they were all Chained outside.. And these Pics were from before the bath! We bathed them and they all look and feel better :)
 
The Red/white pup in those pics is now named Annabelle :) She is doing really well and has attached herself to the lil Boy! Her tail goes a mile a min when she sees him getting off the bus! And she sits so Nicely to greet him! She is a special one I tell ya!
 
I live in Highlands County but work in Polk County. How do I find out about fostering or volunteering? I live in Avon Park/Sebring but am not familiar with which rescues in my area are working with these guys.

I know Polk county comes up on my animal rescue forum all the time- they really need help and being a foster parent is literally being a lifesaver here!
