fuji e550 tips?

Heloo, I have fuji finepix e550. I can never seem to get really nice clear images. The pictures are nice dont get me wrong but not as clear and detailed as some of the ones I see posted on here. Any tips, what settings should I set it at and does anyone else use this camera?

maybe post a pic you took with the camera...hard to tell whats wrong without knowing how the pics look like :p

will do, my little guys finished his digestion period so I'll take one tonight and upload it asap

I'm not familiar with the 550, but have a Fuji. First make sure it's on Macro (flower picture) after you turn it on. Second, press the shutter button down half way, if you see a red "AF" flash in the right corner, you are to close, back up or zoom out until it beeps, or disappears. Third, make sure you have plenty of light, there will be a white hand on the right side of the screen telling you if there isn't enough light to take the picture. Fourth, and most important, use a tripod or steady base to take the picture. On Macro, just a little hand shake translates into a mega quake on film. Good luck...

Thank you, for those really close up clear pictures where you can see scale details etc, will that be possible with a "point and shot" or is an SLR required?

here's an example of one of the better pics i have taken which is pretty pathetic but with your advice im sure it will get better

are you using digital zoom? dont use digital zoom lol seems like the pic is out of focus...try to take a pic of something easier than a moving snake...and maybe somewhere thats got ALOT of light. The pic you posted, is that a 100% crop of the picture or just re-sized?

the pic looks better when its resized, so maybe resizing/cropping might be the problem? what settings are you currently using?
