Just another "no one else understands my excitement" post.

So, I went to the WCRE this weekend and got to actually hold a scaleless corn. Cool looking animals! For some reason I was suprised that they feel exactly as they look like they will feel. LOL.

I also petted a tarantula, as part of my self-prescribed arachnophobia treatment. Again, I was suprised. I expected it to feel scratchy and wiry, but actually it was super soft - like fur. Not so bad. I survived. Barely.

I also ordered some PVC stacking cages for my corns, 3' wide by 2' deep by 14" tall. They'll be white, with acrylic front drop-down doors and I upgraded to acrylic sides as well, to let more light in. I can't wait to get them, I should have them in 6 weeks, but of course won't probably use them for a few months yet. Here's a picture of some others made by the same vendor... not sure if they are the same dimensions, and of course, the sides aren't clear...

Now I just need to figure out what to put them on too keep them above eye-level for the dogs. I figure that would be too stressful for a snake to have a predator walking back and forth in front of you all day long. Oh ya, and I should mention that I got 4 of them... so I'm set for another future purchase! LOL. And I warned the vendor he may see me again next year, since I have just a few more morphs on my wish list! :dancer:

And finally, I bought a new baby corn!! I wanted a bright and "hot" colored morph to go with my cool and neutral colored ultramel anery and cinder... so I settled on a fire, which started a firestorm (sorry, couldn't resist) of debate on whether she was or was not in fact a fire. I am now convinced that she must be, though whether she will express great diffusion is yet to be seen. I named her Rave'n'Riot due to the long discussion she instigated, and call her Rave or Raven for short. She's 10 grams, and has the calmest disposition, I am very impressed with her that way. Can't wait to see what she's like once she's had a few days to settle in.

Next, I need a great pink morph, a blizzard/whiteout, an ultramel candy cane tessera, a sunkissed amaretto... LMAO. Clearly my wishlist will take a few years to achieve!!

Here is Rave:
Thanks for reading/looking!!

Those stacking cages are really neat. I love the idea of clear sides. I've never seen that on that type of cage before. How much did those set you back? I imagine they can't have been cheap.

I have never gotten to even see a scaleless corn in real life, let alone hold one. Very cool.

I figured there might be one or two scaleless just for display, but there were actually several of them, and I'm pretty sure they were actually for sale. I wasn't thinking straight enough to actually check out prices or morphs or anything, but there were at least 2 or 3 different morphs too, by the looks of them.

The cages weren't cheap, it's true, but compared to anything else I've found that was similar, especially once you factor in shipping, they were comparable. I get free shipping on these because they are manufactured here in Alberta. Plus, they should last a lifetime, so over the lifespan of a snake, it's not so bad. I'd have to double check the invoice (it was emailed to me) for exact numbers, but if you really want to know, send me a PM and I'll happily share. :)

And another successful eater!! Whew! She had me worried for a minute there, she wouldn't eat the pinkie in front of me, but I left her alone with it and checked on her half an hour later, and she had a nice big bulge in her tummy! :) Atta girl. Hopefully it's all smooth sailing from here on out.
