if i bred an amel and a stiped anery, what would be the suspected offspring ? If the offspring would be normals, what would the suspected F2 offspring be ?

Kris

You'd get a nice mixture of normals, amels, anerys, snows, stripes, amel stripes, anery stripes & snow stripes.

?

You'd get that mix only from the F2 gneration, though. F1
would be all normals, unless the amel were het for anery or
stripe, or the anery stripe were het for amel, or they were
both het for the same thing. Which Anery is it? Anery A will
get you snows in the F2 (1/16th chance per baby) and anery
B will get you blizzards (1/16th chance per baby).

Cheers,
TS

WOW . . . i have now made my mind up on what i want!!!

I want an anery A stripe female to eventually breed with my amel male. I would be getting quite a bit of variety with the F2 generation if i bred these and that is what i like about it, that is what i want for sure!!!

Kris

Kris,

If it's the variety you want, try this on for size: get an anery stripe/motley. The F2 should produce:

normals,
amels,
anerys,
snows,
striped normals,
striped amels,
striped anerys,
striped snows,
motley normals,
motley amels,
motley anerys,
motley snows,
striped/motley normals,
striped/motley amels,
striped/motley anerys,
and,
striped/motley snows.

How's THAT for variety?!? 16 morphs from the F2 generation! Of course for the same effect on a higher end scale, you could substitute a striped/motley caramel for the striped/motley anery and you'd get normals, amels, caramels, and butters of each type listed above!

Too much fun, eh?:D

tschofie - I Answered the question in that form because Kris said "<i>If the offspring would be normals, what would the suspected F2 offspring be ?</i>"

Oh dear...

No offense intended at all, just a minor clarification of your
already excellent answer. My apologies if I overstepped.

Ohhhh there is S0 many decisions to make!!! lol

16 different varieties from F2 would be great, So i now know what i am looking out for. I suppose if i can only get an Anery Stripe/Motley as a hatchling and not a yearling or adult, i suppose the wait of bringing the female up would be well worth it!!! I am starting to get the gist of genetics and it is fun!! I have found a UK breeder who has Anery stripe/Motleys for £75 . . . I dont know if they have any left but i have e-mailed them to ask, if they have then great!! i will bug the heck outta my mum and dad to let me get one (i will be paying), if there are none left, then i will probably reserve one for when they next hatch, even if i do have to wait another year!! lol

P.S: Thanks to Darin, Kevin & tschofie for your replies, they've helped me a LOT!!! Thanks again. :D

Kris :)
