getting a great plains rat snake....cage question

penny

New member
In the spring I shall be getting a great plains rat snake, he shall be called cecil. I am wondering about his cage though. they like to climb more than corns right? should i get him a tall viv rather than a long one?

Ours did climb a bit when young but as an adult - spend all their time under their hidebox. It was always my impression that great plains ratsnakes were less likely to climb than corns - not that many trees on the praries!

Congrats on the new guy - we really like the great plains ratsnakes,

mary v.
