Glass vivarium

Ok i have just ordered a new viv for my snake and it is glass.I was just wondering do the same rules as wooden vivs go for glass ones because i was just thinking maybe the heat will get a little too hot with the glass.I have bought a thermostat is there anything else?

I actually do have my uth right on the glass, but it's open underneath, so there is a lot of air space. It's been on there for a few months with no cracking, but take care to keep your water bowl far away from it. If it spilled onto the heat side, it probably would crack it pretty quickly.

I had a glass viv for one year with the UTH stuck right onto the bottom. At the temperatures your thermostat is set at it should not affect the glass.
In the summer here it is often 95-100°F, I have never had a problem with my glass breaking when I pour a drink (even with 32° ice) on my patio. My thermostat on the glass viv was set at about 86°F.

That reminded me of something I did when I was a kid. I grabbed a glass from the dishwasher right after it was done washing the dishes, and the cup was really hot. I put cold water in it, and it instantly cracked. I was mad, because it was my favorite cup. lol - your story just reminded me of that. :sidestep:
