Good clutch, bad clutch - in one day!

Lolo

Surrounded by snakes
Boy, today (yesterday technically) was quite a day! First I woke up to my Ball Python Nerissa laying eggs... unfortunately I was on my way to work, so I only got to see the first one come out. I was stressing and anxious to get home all day, and check on the final tally - got home around 9pm, and found her tightly coiled around 5 gorgeous pearly whites. :)

A few hours later, I went to check on my other snakes, and found my Western Hognose had made a mess of her tub... ALL the bedding was pushed into one corner, and it smelled kinda funny. So I took her out for a cleaning, discovering that she felt awfully light, but I figured she'd just taken a gigantic poop. Much to my surprise, I found what looked like grapes under the bedding, but they were actually 10 slug eggs! She's only 2 years old, and has never been with a male, so it was definitely a shocker. They're infertile of course, but at least I know she's sexually mature if I decide to get a male. Anyway, here are some photos of both the good & bad clutch:

Candled for kicks, and they're obviously infertile.

Ouch... sorry about the hoggie; lot of energy spent on nothing. What are you expecting from the BP clutch?

Ouch... sorry about the hoggie; lot of energy spent on nothing.

Well, she was a FATTY prior to laying, and never skipped a meal the whole time... so she's still a good weight, and should be back to normal soon. She does seem pretty tired, though! She's been sleeping all day, but did peek out to say "hi" when I check on her earlier. ;)

What are you expecting from the BP clutch?

Nerissa's a normal, and I observed locks with both my pastel & Mojave boys... I'm betting on the Mojave, since he's a proven breeder and was with her shortly before ovulation (a few weeks). Here's the expected daddy, Julius:

P.S. Last year's Mojave/normal clutch was with Mona, who's much darker than Nerissa... so I'm excited to see how her light color affects the offspring!
