i was feeding him and he bit the mouse but had wraped around my finger thinking he had the mouse so i waited till he let go and he search his tank for hours looking for the other mouse (finger)

bad tho

as he ate the mouse alive kicking in his throat

mouse died and he is fine

oh and about pine shavings what would they do if they were used as a substrate (bedding, ground)?

If it was a live pinky mouse, it is very normal for them to skip the consriction and just eat it. I think it is because a pinky could not bite or scratch them like a grown mouse could.

I not sure, but I might of heard somewhere that the sap resedue from pine shavings causes the scales on reptiles to itch and burn.
