Handling.

Hello everyone :)

I've recently acquired two little corns. One is one month old today and the other will be two months old on the 25th.

I'm wondering, when do you start handling them? They're so tiny.

The older one is rather calm when on my hand, but I'm just afraid of breaking them. :(

Oh, both had several successful feeds. :)

I would say when you are ready. :) You won't break them but just be careful. I would do your first few handlings over the top of their enclosures so that if you do drop them they don't fall to the floor and it doesn't hurt them. :)

Most people start with a few minutes worth of handling and move up on time from there. I leave it up to the snakes. If they look like they are having fun I keep them out longer. If they are acting stressed and never calm down I put them back rather quickly. As you handle them more you will start to learn their language. :D

I felt the same way. I wanted snakes so badly and when I got them I was scared of losing them or dropping them. I would just let them glide through my fingers for twenty minutes a day. I did get pooped on a few times, so keep a towel close by. The only bights were feeding response, their teeth are to small too cause any damage at this age.

I got my snake she was 2 months old and I went easy..starting with handling her for minutes, over her viv and increasing..she is almost 3 months now and I can have her for a good 20 minutes with me....and when I put her down, it's not her "asking for it" but me having other things to do...she just stays there looking at me and waiting. My guess is that if you start young, she it will get to know you and the trust will get in faster... and you would be suprised of the strenght it has even so small.
