I decided to go ahead and take the plunge, so I will be accepting orders for adult Harlan ICRs.
These mice will differ from the factory-bred mice in one specific way- these will be offspring bred with full immune systems, not the standard ICR stock raised in "clean cages" for lab experiments.
What this means is that you will not have a waiting period of a few months before exposing these animals to normal rodent conditions; they will be ready for tub/cage/colony life upon arrival- if you order from Harlan you have to be extremely careful not to expose the mice to anything untoward because of the supressed immune systems they bear.

Contrary to some peoples' beleif you can order directly from Harlan if you choose, but the cost is pretty high.
So . . .brass tacks;
$2.50 per mouse + shipping. I will do a 2-day ship via either FedEx or UPS [your choice] but I'd like to go ahead and get these guys out while the weather isn't too warm- don't want the kids in fur coats cooking off while in shipment. If you want to get some idea of your cost these will ship from zip 47408.
Within a couple of months I will be able to do a larger volume of these, but for now my stock is limited to 2oo, so let's start off with lots of 2o-25 MAXIMUM [either gender] so that more people can take advantage and get a good start.
Less is fine, but please no more than 25. If this first batch goes well then we can look at a higher volume later, eh? My supplier plans for volume of up to 2o,ooo a month, so rest assured if this becomes something more people end up wanting or needing I think we'll wind up having enough ;]

I will pick up the mice and prep for shipping late next week; this will include a peek at weather patterns on the way to you and if necessary I will heat pack, etc etc. I expect to ship the mice no later than 24 March unless there is some complication with shipping supplies arriving, acts of god, etc etc. i will contact everyojne who posts with a PM as the time grows nearer.
Due to international regulations I won't be able to ship anywhere outside the contiguous 48, but if any Canadians are gonna be Central and want to meet up in Milwaukee I am gonna be there in the 18th and the the 27th of March. Please let me know plenty ahead of time and I might be able to stop in the Chicagoland region and on up 94 near those same dates- anyone wanting to meet up along the way plz indicate so in a PM. [are there that many Chicaaaaagoans on here?]
Anything I haven't thought of will be edited into this post; I am SURE I am missing something here. . . getting ready to take off for a 2-day out of state work trip, so my head is scattered as scattered can be.
