From what I've read, it's a big, flaming no-no to keep corn snakes, especially babies, in the same enclosure.
Good thing I researched that well and hard before considering buying more, which I did. You all know how it is... one just isn't enough.
Because my newest babies (there are six of them, not including my previous yearling) are all approximately the same age and size, I bought one large vivarium and used aquarium sealant and purchased plexiglass to divide it into six little cubicles, one for each snake.
Well....
It sounded good at the time, and worked for a good chunk of fifteen minutes, but the plastic, original cage warped and sure enough one of my hatchlings (Appropriately and instantly dubbed "Houdini") made a visit to his adjacent neighbor. I separated them once more and taped up what I thought was the gap, but I had to sacrifice the access lid as it made a little "bubble" that Houdini instantly sought out and utilized. It almost seemed as though he was starting a little rebellion, as pretty soon ALL of my hatchlings were in different cubicals, even directly after being fed when they should be a little more lethargic.
Ok, I guess here's what I'm trying to get across. Because I'm used to building cages for larger snakes (the one I built my 5ft Red-tailed boa was quite successful), I had no idea baby corn snakes were so sneaky, even after being aware that they were relatively resourceful escape artists.
Is there anyone out there who has had this problem and has found a simple, CHEAP, easily cleaned and safe alternative?
I don't really want to use one big tupperware container for each, since they're so small and I have limited space at the moment. I also DEFINITEly don't want to keep them in their little deli dishes. I like the stacked tray idea, and the cheapest I can find are these Corn Condos . They're kinda what I'm looking for, so I will get them if I hear no better (cheaper) ideas...
I appreciate the help guys! Also if anyone's interested in tutoring a wishful and interested breeder-wannabe, I'm your gal.
P.S. and if anyone's REALLY good at identifying morphs, I could use your help with This Lil Guy. He was advertised as a sunglow, but I'm not entirely sure. His belly is white diffusing to orange towards the middle, no ventral pattern, and no white scales as far as I can see on his dorsal side. But I guess my question is, is he a stripe/Motley or simple Motley?
