Hi Guys,

this may be a problem / may not be

I brought some really good accesories for my 2 vivs last weekend. In one of the viv's i have a large flat-ish hide,

Im a bit worried as my youngest 'Tu' stays in it ALL the time. I have to wake him up & get him out to check he is still with us !, he can easily stay in the same place under this log for a whole day maybe 2 at a time...is this normal ??

I miss the little guy..is it possible he just loves it too much

any advice would be great..

funilly enough my eldest 'Bigs' is wondering around his viv, aimlessly like he is searching for something ?? they are both males..is he looking for a mate ? mind you they are due to be fed on 2nd March. cheers guys..I may be worrying unnessiserilly but need to check as i lose sleep over stuff like this !

cheers

In the wild snakes develope safe home spots that they will tend to stay in and go out to feed then return to. Sounds like you gave the little guy a really great hide that he feels safe in.

If you want to create more movement, every now and then rearrange the position of things in side the Viv , and move that hide to a different spot and that will get them into curiosity mode. It is clear that the snakes tend to prefer a flat hide that fits closely to their backs and mine who have these are often in them as well.

As for the elder of your two , Pacing around in an unnormal manner this time of year is pretty common in the adult males due to breeding instincts setting in. Its actually not bad for them though because our snakes rarely get enough exercise in their vivs! He could be hungry, but sounds like he has to wait a while for food so he must just continue his work out. I am sure he is fine ..most common ailments create fatique and listlessness in snakes. if he is overactive and soaking alot then that could be other issues but sounds like he is just pacing a bit.

Best of luck...Aren't snakes great !! :crazy02:

thank you so much for the great advice.

Thats put my mind at rest now.. Its 'good' to know that he 'just loves it in there. Maybe I should get a bigger flat-ish hide for Big's... although that may mean I never see him either !!!

cheers for your help & yeah, snakes are the best :wavey:
