Well I know I haven't been on here much since I moved out of my mums, still haven't got that internet connection set up lol...

The problem is I've tried breeding Jake & Electra several times now. Left them in together for a day twice a week for the past three weeks. He watches her every move and once or twice he got a little jerky, but thats it. I've tried his tank, her tank, a 32qt tub etc. etc.

She hasn't tried to run away... he just doesn't seem to understand what to do! She has been bred before sucessfully, he has never seen a female snake before. But he is definetely male! Help me! Are there any techniques I could try? I suppose its possible that they've bred when I haven't seen but I very much doubt it, she does not seem to be gravid.

Sometimes they ignore eachother, sometimes they curl up together and he does seem to follow her and little and slide up her back, but nothing fast or drastic, they have definetely not hooked up while I've been watching.

Oh! Another thing... a couple times now I think I have seen what I can onl;y describe as 'male snake juice' coming out of Jake, when they've been together. But no sign of his hempenis' coming out, and his tail hasn't been near hers!

Can anyone help? Would really love these 2 to breed. Hes 4 years old and about 850g, shes 5 years old and about 550g.

Well, this is kind of like first of all check to make sure the appliance is plugged in. In this case, are you sure you have boys and girls?

I have found that the scent of a freshly shed female skin can be stimulating. For the snake. Also I have heard that the urates in the female feces contain pheromones that stimulate the male.

I don't know any other tricks. I don't always wittiness copulation. It can happen when you are not there.

misting

one thing that has helped me on many occasiions is misting the enclosure. it helps excentuate the smells of the female. also why are you only leaving them together for 1 day at a time?
if they are your only pair just leave them together until she is noticably gravid seperating them every few days for 1 day to try feeding the female.

I did say that she had been bred before, and that he was definetely male! (Maybe you missed that bit)

But anyway, amazingly, last night I witnessed copulation. So am now happy!! Thanks for the advice about misting the tank, I hadn't heard that before.

See, it's what I've been talking about. Snakes have a universal game called "Let's see what we can do to drive our human parents crazy." :dancer:
