is it ok to feed him???

i was worried cause it split in two just behind his head but came of in one go in the end.

He just ate and has got a big fat belly now.

Was advised by my local reptile shop to move up to 1 pinky and 1 fuzzy. Its just the pinky seams a bit pathetic now.

he's 25g and approx 19 " if that helps

He takes the fuzzy fine (usualy the hard way legs first) so should i try him on 2 fuzzy's now??

Just took a pic so you can see his size

what are you feeding him right now... 2 pinkies, 1 pinky, 1 fuzzy? That fuzzy looks plenty big to serve only one.

I'm feeding my corn 1 fuzzy every 4 days. It looks just as big in its stomach as it does in yours.

i was told 1pinky and 1 fuzzy every 7 days.think i should switch to a four day cycle like you

You could do whatever you please. I really want my corn to get nice and big and he seems to be doing just fine with a fuzzy every 4 days. He's still very active and is able to be held. I think I'll continue the 4 day cycle through hoppers and when he eventually gets to full size mice (or however big he can handle), I might go every 5 days. I enjoy watching him eat and I spoil all my animals.

Enjoying the eating process is only good for you, not the snake. Over feeding is not healthy whether or not it's entertaining for you. Spoiling to the tune of their health isn't the way to go either. Spoiling means doing everything you can to provide the optimal health for your animal...or it should. Once the animal is off pinkies and feeding on fuzzy's or larger, you're better off once a week. Adults can go to every 2 weeks or you risk obesity.

Yo meg, before you start chastising others... READ MY POST AGAIN. I did not say anywhere that I want scad to start feeding every 4 days. And thats exactly why I stated he is in great shape, has great energy, and all the other indicators of good health. Yes I do enjoy feeding... Is that wrong? It's not like I'm some sick person. And especially coming from someone who is as "smart as you," most say you should feed your baby-juve corn 1-2 a week... and according to my calender, my feedings seem to fit right in with that timeframe. And once again, If I have the option of feeding my corn 1 or 2 mice a week, I will spoil him and go with 2... provided its not detrimental to his health. I'm looking forward to your next post.

There is your quote. You stated that you feed ever four days on a fuzzy and that you will go to every 5 once he's on full sized mice. I simply stated that it is overfeeding. I never stated that Scad was going to do so. I simply commented on your feeding schedule which is excessive. Neonates and young hatchlings can be fed every 4-5 days. If your animal is on fuzzies, it's certainly past the hatchling stage and can be fed once a week. Multiple items should be fed perhaps once or twice when preparing to move up in size. After that, one appropriately sized item every 7 days will do. When your snake is an adult, it shouldn't be fed more than once a week. Better yet would be one appropriately sized animal once every 2 weeks. Younger animals tend to grow and use what you feed so obesity is not a problem, but it will be later. Just feeding to spoil them is no excuse. A snake doesn't recognize spoiling. It doesn't have the capacity. It's simply opportunistic and will eat what you give it. That doesn't make it a healthy practice over the longterm. I apologize if you're offended, and I also apologize to Scad for having a bit of a high jacked thread here.

It's one thing to state the facts or your opinions about overfeeding, but the way in which you did so... about me endangering my corn is another. Right now, I am feeding my juvenile corn a fuzzy every 4 days. As I have stated numerous times, he is in great health, very active, and showing all the signs of good health. I simply stated I would increase to 5 days when he's on full mice, but I am not there yet and I don't know how he will handle it. I simple stated that I will increase the days in between feedings when he begins to eat bigger mice. I don't know what length, but I will figure it out. Thanks for all the info., but try not to make your information so condescending.

I'm sorry you feel it's condescending but when you disregard normal husbandry practices because you like to "spoil" your animals I can't help it. Please accept my apologies.
