Heat tape setup

So this weekend at Tinley I'm picking up 2 new snakes (super excited! More on that later.) I've decided on using tubs until they need adult enclosures and have 6 inch heat tape from Reptile Basics on about a third of the floor space. They will be connected to a Herpstat 2. I have a few questions though.

1. I used electrical tape to place the thermostat probe, but I have my doubts that this will stay secure and not fall off. The Herpstat manual says to not use aluminum tape on the probe, which is what I had planned on using. Should I use something like duct tape?
2. The herpstat directions say not to place the probe on the underside of the heating element, but almost all the other advice I've heard says this is exactly where you should place it. Reptile Basics says to place probes directly on the heat tape as well.
3. How does my heat setup look overall?

Thanks for the help!
