heating question

Should I put the under tank heater and the basking light on the same side or should I put it on the cool side. Also how hot does a 40 watt basking light get and if I should put it on the cool side would it get the temperature around 70-77 degrees.

you should not need the basking bulb, the under tank pad should heat the tank enough.

your snake will usually be on the bottom, so heating the bottom is all that is needed.
just make sure the temperature directly above the heat pad doesn't get to high(temperature of the glass/right above the glass.

Ensure you have a thermometer with a probe with the probe located on the glass directly above your under tank heater.
