Hello everyone I am new to this site and I enjoy reading what everyone has to say. I have been researching corn snakes for the past year and I can not wait to finally get one. I have a 30 gallon tank already and I am just waiting to move because my mom would kill me if I brought a snake home, she is deathly afraid of them. I hope to be moving in another 6-7 months. I went to the pet store in my area that is extremely nice and they really know there stuff, they actually breed there snakes at home. Well I got to hold a corn for the first time and it was totally awesome. I am so excited!!!!

Hello and welcome to the forum!

I bet you can't wait to get your corn snake! I couldn't wait to get mine!

Thats cool that you got to hold one in the shop, seems like your doing your research - this forum is great for help, advice and info. It will come in very handy when you have your corn too ;-)

So, are you going for a hatchling, yearling or adult? Lol, sorry just curious!

Thank You!
I can not wait and am so excited! I am definately doing my research, at the shop they had babies; it was no longer then a pencil and skinnier than one too. It actually sprayed me is that good or bad? I would love to get an adult if it needed a good home, but would prefer a baby/hatchling.

I guess it sort of depends on what it sprayed you with :D

Regardless of whether it was musk or poo I'd say it's not necessarily bad (not necessarily good either) . Maybe it was his way of telling you to take him home. Lots of snakes of different ages do this. They may have fed him recently or he may just not be used to being handled and was nervous.

Glad to hear that you've done a lot of research. I can't imagine having to wait over a year! I'm sure you'll love it. Maybe you could talk your mom into going to the pet store with you and possibly turn her around. :shrugs: It may be worth a shot. :)

Almost forgot, Welcome to the forum :wavey:

Wow- a year? that's an incredible amount of Patience. I am amazed by your restraint, and hope that I never get that controlled.

But if it's a matter of a roof over your head I know you made the right choice, 'cause it would be impossible to care for corns without electricity . . . very very few homeless people keeping corns these days; the numbers grow smaller and smaller.

Welcome from another forum newbie ;]
