Hello all!
Since I was little, I have always enjoyed snakes. I'd run around the grandparent's house in the summer, catching little copperbellies and keeping them in a bucket as "pets" for a few hours.
Anyhow, I am the proud new owner of Lucius, a bloodred male. I just received him last Wednesday, so don't have many pictures of him yet and what I do have are not the best quality. I didn't realize taking pictures of baby snakes would be so difficult. There will be more pictures to come though, I'm excited to see how his markings change.
Saturday evening I took him out of his tank and handled him a bit. He was quite squirmy for a minute or so, but then calmed right down and seemed very happy crawling around my hands and arms, just checking things out. He especially seemed to like rubbing his chin on my arm. After that, I fed him a pinkie. I was a bit apprehensive about this, reading all the "He won't eat!" threads on here. I had fresh, live pinkies (frozen ones are on order) so I killed one and put it in his cage on a little piece of paper so he wouldn't eat any aspen. I dimmed the lights and went about my business... a couple minutes later I looked over and he was biting the heck out of it! A few more minutes and the pinkie was nothing more than a bulge in his belly. Sweet. He didn't seem to mind my watching from a few feet away.
This looks to be a great site with all kinds of good info. Thanks, all! I'll be around...
