:shrugs: Please, Please anybody, my daughter had the snake out in the living room and she went to answer the phone and forgot about the snake. About an hour later she remembered she left it out and now it is gone. This was last Friday, it's been missing for 7 days. I have looked everywhere, we have a tri- level house and we have searched everywhere, I have left mice out on every floor, The only place I think It could be is in the vents. How do I get him out?? Also he is about one years old - not very big.

Please any suggestions would be helpful!!!

I am grateful for any suggestions.

Note: I also bought the sticky traps that say the catch snakes and you can take mineral oil and vegetable oil to get them off safely - no luck, I have 4 traps on each floor and NOTHING??? Traps have been out for about 3 days.

Thank you

I wouldn't use the sticky traps at all. They could be potentially dangerous to the snake. Where did she have the snake? You would be surprised how close to that area the snake stays. Also, do a search of the forums for lost snakes and you'll find some helpful information on how to find it. Hope you find him/her.

i agree with madam...

the sticky traps are not a good idea. going off topic for a moment...i would recommend that in the future you refrain from giving your phone number out on a public forum. you never know who will end up calling your house.

now...onto to the escapee. i lost my cremesicle hatchling over two months ago and about three weeks ago he came back and from what i can conclude he stayed very close to where his enclosure is set up and didn't venture past the couch, in fact i believe he found a warm place within the couch. there is hope. i would continue to place pinkies in the room that he escaped from, you can place them inside a soda bottle, the snake will go in quickly, but he will have some difficulty finding his way back out, just like bees in porch umbrellas or birds in food courts. good luck!

Very sorry to hear of your lost snake, as stated above your snake is close by, try to remember how small it is when it's curled up in it hide. Now look in a low spot that small.
Also as stated before, please remove your phone# only you can edit your post.
Good luck to you. :)

Good idea about not giving out phone number, but I just wanted anyone someone to help. Thanks for all your suggestions, I am really going crazy - to tell you the truth I really did'nt realize how much I love my snake. I can't sleep, I keep getting up at night thinking he's going to be there. I flipped the couch over and it's all stapled at the bottom, he couldn't have gotten up there. And she says she left it in the middle of the living room out in the open. An when she last saw it, it was headed towards the couch.

If you lost your snake for over 3 months, what condition was it in???? We spray ours every day with water and feed him every 9 days, there's no way he can survive without us!!! I am just going crazy. Well thanks everyone.

Lol, i'm sure your snake CAN survive w/out your care. Remember, these snakes, maybe not yours, have lived in the wild for....well, awhile. Anyway, there is a good chance that you will find him. Good luck!

Snake Trap

Sorry to hear abour your lost snake. Thought I'd seen pictures on this forum of the soda bottle trap norbert03 is talking about... but I couldn't find them again. Don has some good pictures on his site, so here's a link to the right place. Click on "Miscellaneous" then "Traps."

You would be very surprised how they can get along with us. I lost a rat snake in the dead of winter for 3 months. Neighbors found him on their porch looking quite healthy and very much fed. I have no idea what he was living off of but he did quite well for himself.

Ok, one more question: The bottle trap with the mice in it, how long can you leave mice out. I only leave them for him - no longer than 2 hours. Don't they go bad if you leave them overnight?? Wont he get sick?

Thanks again

I had my 3rd ever missing snake drama today, this time it was out of sheer stupidity. I opened the display viv (sliding glass front) to get out one snake to feed it and left the front open....other snake realised this was his chance....so while snake #1 was in the feeding box and I was on the couch with a book, snake #2 went for an explore.....20 mins later I went to move snake #1 back to the viv and realised what a dumbass I was and did a nice little panic attack dance! 2 mins later I crouched down and saw a cute little anery (well, not so little) poking his tongue out at me from under the viv...what a relief! Don't panic too much....so many MIA's turn up within a few feet of where they were last meant to be...good luck all the same,

Go ahead and leave the pinks in there all night. Better odds. Good chance the snake won't get sick but at least you'll have him to take care of if he does. Bunch of threads on lost snake tips and tricks if you want to research. Put flour on floor across doorways to look for signs, block vents, plastic bags along walls to listen for noises. Leave areas with food traps dark and quiet so as not to spook him. My cat was a life saver on 1 of 3 escapes, the other 2 were my fault for not paying attention but I knew exactly where they were.
Good luck.
