Hi guys, I would like to measure my snake and tried to use the nice serp widget but sadly I am on a Mac. I was hoping someone here could have a look at my photo and do the dirty work for me:)

Ive had sable since the end of October and she was Born Early August. I guess that makes her around 6 months Old. When I got her she was only 5g and she is up to 13 grams now. Im not sure if she is small or regular or what not, so I wanted to get some size measurements. In anycase she seems very healthy and eats extremely well. Has never missed a meal. Her last shed left a tiny piece of skin on the end of her tail, so Im trying to work that off using a wet cloth, but I dont want to push it as I dont want to injure her. A pic for sizing is below along with the stuck on skin

Thanks for the help, I really appreciate it:

Keep trying to get that skin off. I know they hate being touched there, but she'll lose the tail tip if you don't. I've desensitized my snake's tail by touching it every time I hold him, he doesn't even notice anymore. He did poop on me once.

When I get on my desktop I can use the snake measure program and let you know what it says. Might not be until tomorrow though.

Will do, Ill try again in a couple days after her food has digested. Ill be a little more aggressive next time:)

You can measure by stretching the snake shed out an measure it that way. If the shed wasn't completely destroyed and still flexible. Also a way to deal with that tail shed that didn't come off completely. You must have got a Deli cup when you got your snake fill it with 78 to 82 degree Fahrenheit and let the snake take a bath for 15 minutes. If the snake freaks then you can pour some water out. I have used this technique twice with a hatchling and a yearling that had issues with there tail not coming all the way off and after the 15 min bath I was able to easily coax it off. Hope this advice helps for future Knowledge...

Measuring the shed skin will overestimate the snake's length, so it's not a good way of doing that. The shed skin can be about 30 % longer than the snake. It varies, though, so assuming 30 % won't work either.

Yes I agree on a large snake the shed could be 30% bigger but on a smaller snake I dont think its that much I have measured my '10 corns by there sheds. I also forgot to mention that one could take a piece of string or yarn and start at the end of the yarn and place it at the tip of the head and run it along the snake to the tip of the tall then measure the length of the string or yarn... I have also measured my '10 by this method and only seen a difference of a 1/4 to 1/2 inch difference. Not disagreeing just sharing what I know.

What widget that doesn't work on the mac? I have the mac also...but some PC laptops....

Also I have a corn snake that is 18 inches long and at 13 grams, i think the breeder told me 1 month old, but I could be mistaken....right not I had him for a month so if he is a month should be now 2 months or 2 1/2 months....does that sound reasonable estimate?

Also is thier a chart on cornsnakes.com that I can print out corn snake charts? Feeding, growth size, weight....

Thanks A Millions Guys
