Hi, I fed my corn, and i left him for 1 whold week, then he went into shed, when he shed, that was the last time i seen him out, he went up his branch, and into this hanging canisted i got (basicly a cylinder with one end blocked), and he hasnt been out since, he has been there for at least a week, i dont want to get him out of it as i think it would cause stress, as he is packed in there. I am worried, i want to see my corn. He is 1 year old.
Any ideas on why he is doing it, or wheter i should just pull him out of it, Please help.
He is in the cool side of his viv, hasnt pooped yet.

Before a shed, my snake is very lethargic for a while, and acts strangely when I do hold him.

I also noticed that with recent sheds, he'll poop right after shedding (just did it yesterday).

Just make sure you have enough humidity in the tank.
With my snake, he just seems so grumpy while getting ready to shed, it almost seems like he is comforted when I hold him. That may not be the same with your snake. I forget when/where I heard it, but someone said that snakes/corns are more likely to bite during a shed because they are uncomfortable and can't see really well. So be careful, but the little guy will probably shed somewhat soon and take care of everything himself.

Greetings,

First off, chances are very good that your snake is perfectly fine. Corns snakes, particularly young ones, like to pack themselves into tight spaces. My guess is that he comes out to drink when you're not around. One of my snakes used to pack herself in tight spaces for seemingly endless days and, like you, I didn't want mess with her to get her out for fear of added stress. I solved the problem by removing all cage furniture that made her inaccessible. She now has a log hide, a halved paper towel role hide, and a small rock cave. All of these allow me easy access to her. She basically lives in her paper towel role though (like kids, buy them a nice present and all they want to do is play in the box) :) Depending on how much time I spend sneaking into the snake room at night, I will hardly ever see her out.

If you want to see him and handle him, make him accessable by removing places where he can pack himself in tight.

I hope this helps

Cheers,
Jason
