Ultras... Thank you

I got the snakes, they are beautiful (I have yet to see a corn that isn't).

Thank you!!!

Kathy, This is Carlos , I'm who sale you the Ultras het for caramel motleys, they are from My Ultra motley het caramel to a caramel het ultra motley.Out of 37 eggs I got ultra motleys, ultras and others. If you have any other question e-mail me. Best Regards. carlos

I'm not an expert on Ultra, but for the sake of argument I'll guess it behaves like all of the other morphs.

First question I have to ask is, are the snakes you received in fact Ultras?

Secondly, if he bred an Ultra Motley to his Caramel Motley het Amel, you should get all Normal Motleys het Golddust (Ultra-Caramel). When in fact you said that the snakes you received were not Motley. Are you looking at their backs for the dots or at the belly as well? Motley bellies are clear, no checkering at all.

So either he's misrepresenting what in fact he sold, or he has no clue about how genetics behaves. In order to get Ultras het Caramel Motley, the female Caramel Mot mother would have to be het for Ultra as well and one of them isn't a Motley. ;)

Ever since I got asked to leave Kingsucks.com, I haven't been back. I don't even look at the ads there. Most of the people I don't know and don't trust. Not saying everyone is this way, but I tend to stay on this side of the tracks, as it were. I only buy from people on here or Fauna (after some research).

Post some pics for us to see and we'll help you out as much as we can. It might clear up things before you go shouting at him for a bad sale. But it sounds to me like you got had, which I am truly sorry for. Ultra is so new right now that I've not yet had the nerve to buy any from people. And if I did, they'd be from someone I trust to sell what they say it is. Next time check the BOI over on Fauna and see what has to be said about any future breeders you might buy from.

Best of luck to ya!

Edit: And next time, don't delete your message. That's not what the edit button is fer. :)

Taceas,
I appreciate your post, but, again... I have made a mistake. In my efforts to understand my situation and not insult the breeder, I managed to do just that. The parents listed in the e-mail were not correct and he and I have clarified the parentage since. I deleted the second message because I spoke about "learning the hard way" I guess I should have left that in... still learning the hard way.

Thank you.

For everyone who read the original post, I want to publicly apologize to Carlos.

Mistakes happen, people do dumb things now and then...goodness knows I get everyone's share, not just my own. ;)

All it takes is a little pre-emptiveness on your part to mess with the balance of things. Hopefully no ill feelings from anyone.

Carlos is a really nice guy and he forgave me (I've been corresponding via e-mail with him)
Thank you,
Kathy

And such is the fate of threads where the initial subject and point of discussion was removed...

Yeah... heavily edited posts just leave everybody scratching their heads...

the original point of discussion:

I had recieved an e-mail that did not make sense to me regarding the genetics behind my new family members. I was looking for some suggestions on how to discreetely handle the situation (my original post had no names) when Carlos saw the post and responded. At that moment, I realized that I should have asked for clarification and was trying to correct the situation. I did not realize that
1) the title would not change after an edit and
2) someone else had already read the original post and was in the process of responding when I edited the original.

All of this happened very quickly and won't happen again.

Once again, I publicly apologize to Carlos. We e-mailed for a little while last night and he is a super great guy-- both gracious and understanding and, like I pointed out in my original post: The snakes are beautiful!

I apologize to everyone who reads this for the confusion.
